The younger players will primarily play flag rugby throughout the season, focusing on foundational skills such as passing, catching, running with the ball, and understanding defensive positioning. Games are typically played in a 7-on-7 (Sevens) format, though larger groups may occasionally participate. Coaches will offer plenty of guidance to ensure the matches are well-organized, and all referees will be certified.
-
This age group encompasses a range of playing styles based on the players’ age, size, physical ability, and athleticism. While they typically start with 7-on-7 matches to learn the basics and build confidence on the pitch, they may transition to hybrid formats such as 10-on-10 or even 12-on-12 as the season progresses. Matches consist of two 7-minute halves, with coaches gradually shifting from on-field guidance to a sideline role, allowing players to make their own decisions during play. Coaches strive to ensure players compete at a level that feels comfortable and appropriate for their abilities. All referees will be certified.

At the U14 level, matches progress to 10-on-10 or 12-on-12 play, introducing more structure and complexity. This stage includes five-player scrums and clearly defined positions, where forwards learn to operate as a cohesive pack and backs develop the ability to execute tactics and plays based on match situations. Coaches remain on the sideline, emphasizing player autonomy, while the Captain takes on a critical leadership role, guiding the team and communicating with the Referee (Sir or Ma’am). Matches consist of two 15-minute halves, with all referees certified to ensure fair play and safety.
-
At the U15 level for girls, matches typically follow the same structure as the boys, with play progressing to 10-on-10 or 12-on-12 formats when numbers allow. However, games often adopt a 7s format depending on the number of players available. This level includes five-player scrums and defined positions, where forwards focus on working as a unit and backs learn to implement tactics and plays based on game situations. Coaches remain on the sideline, allowing players to take more responsibility, with the Captain playing a key role in guiding the team and communicating with the Referee (Sir or Ma’am). Matches consist of two 15-minute halves, and referees are certified to ensure a fair and safe environment.
-
At this level, players transition to full 15-on-15 rugby, with each half lasting 30 minutes. The team is divided into two distinct units: forwards (7 players) and backs (7 players), connected and coordinated by the Scrumhalf to function as a cohesive team. Leadership becomes vital, with players relying on the Captain and Vice Captains for guidance, as coaches provide minimal in-game communication. All referees will be certified to ensure a fair and safe match environment.
